Enköping Municipality
When looking to replace their old PBX, Enköping municipality decided to focus on customer service and mobility. Now they have an Aastra MX-ONE system based on IP phones and mobile phones. All employees can benefit from all telephony services in the system, such as absence management, calendar access and fax- and text message service. Instead of forwarding calls to mobile phones, employees now have integrated mobile phones with the same services as on the desk phones through Mobile Extension.The mobile number is never visible externally.
With the old system all moves adds and changes resulted in a high cost every year. With the new mobile solution this cost is zero. The fact that now everyone only uses one phone unit each has also brought down costs. The municipality also had 250 leased lines from an operator at a cost of 800 000 SEK per year. All of these have now been moved into the computer network at a cost of zero. The municipality had several hundred faxes, now taken over by a fax server that delivers faxes as e-mail.

The municipality originally anticipated 50% fixed IP extensions and 50% mobile, but because of the lack in capacity in the computer network, it had to be 80% mobility and 20% fixed line penetration. To handle redundance the municipality has three redundant servers that can take over each other's work.
The system's maintenance can now be performed by a single technician. The MX-ONE hardware takes up almost no space in the data center and an IP phone draws much less energy than a conventional telephone system. The transition to MX-ONE was fairly painless because it was made in installments instead of attempting to move all subscribers at once.
