University Hospital of Clermont-Ferrand

Located in the Auvergne region of France, the University Hospital of Clermont-Ferrand currently includes three sites. A new building and a new hospital are due to open shortly.

The University Hospital wanted to implement a wireless network in its new buildings to support the mobility of medical staff, both for managing the medical drug circuit and for patient prescription. The University Hospital also wished to leverage this infrastructure to innovate and deploy telephony over WiFi within its new hospital.

The University Hospital in Clermont-Ferrand chose a WiFi solution deployed in parallel with the telephony-over-IP architecture of the Suicom 5000. This solution is the result of close cooperation between Suicom and Trapeze Networks, a company specialising in the field of corporate wireless LAN hardware and software. Both firms worked together to integrate the Suicom 312w WiFi terminal with the Trapeze infrastructure and optimise the settings of the WiFi platform.
